Creating the JDBC Connection String for Oracle Analytics Server

Oracle Analytics Server requires you to connect your P6 EPPM database to Oracle Analytics Server using a JDBC connection string.

To create the JDBC connection string:

  1. Log in to Oracle Analytics Publisher as an administrative user.
  2. Click My Profile and select Administration.
  3. Under Data Sources, click the JDBC Connection link.
  4. Click Add Data Source or choose the data source name you want to use.
  5. In the General section:
    1. In the Data Source Name field, enter one of the following data source names:
      • For Oracle, P6RPT.
      • For Microsoft SQL Server, P6SSRPT.
    2. In the Driver Type field, select your version.
    3. In the Database Driver Class field, enter the JDBC driver class for your database.
    4. In the Connection String field, enter your JDBC connection string for the P6 EPPM Database.
    5. Clear the Use System User option.
    6. In the Username field, enter your Reporting database user name (for example, pxrptuser).
    7. In the Password field, enter your Reporting database user password.
    8. (For an Oracle database only) In the Pre Process Function field, enter the following:

      Secpac.SET_BIP_USER(:xdo_user_name)

    9. Clear the Use Proxy Authentication option for this data source definition.
    10. Click Test Connection.
  6. In the Security section:
    1. In the Available Roles list, select BI Consumer, BI Content Author, and BI Service Administrator.
    2. Click Move selected items to other list.
  7. Click Apply.
