Transferring Lean Task Data from Primavera Cloud to Activity Steps in P6

This example demonstrates how to use the delivered synchronization, Send Primavera Cloud project data to P6 for Lean Task, to send lean task data from Primavera Cloud to create activity steps in P6. The flow also sends activity,project, and WBS data to P6.

Prerequisites

• Gateway is set up with the following application deployments:
  • P6
  • Primavera Cloud
• In Primavera Cloud user interface, create a project, create tasks associated with the project, and assign these tasks with activities. For more details on using Primavera Cloud, see Primavera Cloud Help.

Procedure

To send task data from Primavera Cloud to create Activity steps in P6:

1. In the sidebar, select Synchronizations.
2. In the Value field, select Project Data from the list.
3. In the Synchronization Name column, select Send Primavera Cloud project data to P6 for Lean Task.
4. Select Edit....

   The Synchronization wizard displays.

5. In the Flow & Deployments step, review the information, and select Next.
6. In the Parameters step:
   1. In the Primavera Cloud Project Filter parameter,
      • Select Project Ids from the Fields list and
      • In the Value field, enter the Primavera Cloud project IDs whose task data is to be transferred.
   2. (Optional) if the project is new for P6, enter the EPS Location for the project to reside in P6.

      If the project already exists, this parameter will not be used by the flow.

      Note: The parameter value selected in the synchronization is unaffected although you may change the parameter’s default value when editing the business flow.

7. In the Summary step, review all the selections made and select Save and exit the wizard.
8. In the Synchronization Name column, select Send Primavera Cloud project data to P6 for Lean Task and then select Run.

Monitoring the Synchronization Job

After you run the synchronization, locate the synchronization on the Monitoring page to check if the data has been successfully sent and received:

1. In the sidebar, select Monitoring.
2. In the Filter lists, select All Jobs by Type and Project Data. The synchronization jobs will be filtered using these selections.
3. Select the Job link for Send Primavera Cloud project data to P6 for Lean Task.
4. Select the Job Details tab.
   1. Select the step, Convert from Source to Gateway format.
   2. Select Gateway Format.

      Data for this flow step, including information if there is a failure, will display if you have data access privileges. Otherwise, an error message, Insufficient Permissions, is displayed.

   3. If you have data access privileges, select Download to download the log files of the synchronization job. Otherwise, an error message, Insufficient Permissions, is displayed.
   4. Select Close.
5. Sign in to P6 to confirm the project data is available in the user interface.
