OIPA Release Notes 12.0.1.0
Oracle Insurance Policy Administration (OIPA) is a next-generation, flexible, rules-based insurance solution for life and annuities that supports policy processing across multiple lines of business. OIPA greatly enhances the ease of use and speed for business analysts, actuaries and others involved in the product configuration process. Robust navigation also makes it easy for users, including CSRs, to locate policy information and drill down into a granular level of customer detail. This allows insurers to respond more rapidly to customer inquiries, reduce call times and improve customer service. These release notes contain the enhancements made to Oracle Insurance Policy Administration release 12.0.1.0.

Oracle Insurance Policy Administration
This section describes configuration, features and technology specific enhancements for GA release 12.0.1.0. OIPA now supports the following functionality:
OIPA Workflow Improvements
Workflow Widget Improvements
A filterable column is added to the General Workflow widget to display each task’s defined business queue. The new column will allow the user to filter unassigned workflow tasks by the queue’s name to make task assignment easier and increase productivity.
For more information, refer to the CSR Guide Workflow Management.
Plan and Company level activities can be defined to create Workflow tasks that will be visible on the Workflow dashboard. Users will be able to react to issues that occur in activities at these levels.
For more information, refer to XML Guide Workflow Element and Validate Expression.
User’s Workflow Preference Page Improvements
Workflow Role modifications alter the business queues available to associated workflow users. The user’s Workflow Preference page will automatically reflect those changes without further user input simplifying the user’s interactions in OIPA.
For more information, refer to the CSR Guide Workflow Preferences.
Workflow Widget filter Improvements
The workflow user can alter their view of a workflow widget’s data by creating custom filters. The user can select a custom filter to change the widget’s default data view.
In addition, any one of the widget’s persisted custom filters can be “pinned” so that it alters the widget’s data view every time the user navigates to the workflow page.
For more information, refer to the CSR Guide Workflow Filter.
OIPA Insurance Rate Improvements
Rate Export Improvements
The insurance rate export feature has been modified to improve the functionality to reprice or correct insurance rates. Exported rates are corrected in a spreadsheet and can be re-imported to replace or supplement the existing rates. This allows the user to use a common tool to work with large sets of data.
For more information, refer to the Rules Palette Guide Search Rate.
Rate Authorization Improvements
The system’s authorization feature is expanded to include individual rate modification and deletion that limits user access to these actions.
For more information, refer to the Rules Palette Guide Search Rate.
Usability Improvements
Redesign of User Interface
The User Interface (UI) has been redesigned to improve the user’s experience, display data in logical, easy to access format and focus on the task at hand. This initiative includes the adoption of the Oracle Redwood Theme as well as input from Oracle’s User Experience team and Customer Enhancement Requests.
For more information, refer to the V11x vs V12x Comparison document.
Entity Summary display fields customization
The major entity (Policy, Client, Customer, Application, Case, Suspense) summary panes can be configured to display frequently referred to data related to that entity. The summary data remains visible as the user navigates the entity’s screens. Having immediate access to this data allows the user to complete their tasks accurately and efficiently and may improve service response times.
For more information, refer to the XML Guide Policy Screen, Client Screen, Case Screen and Suspense Screen.
Customize Display on the Accounting Tab on Processed Activity Screen
Display fields on the Accounting Tab of a processed activity can be configured to add to or replace fields that are currently displayed. Adding configurability to this screen will allow our Customer’s to customize the screen to reflect information important to their business and allow user’s to complete their tasks more efficiently.
For more information, refer to the CSR Guide Activity Details and XML Guide Chart of Accounts in OIPA.
Customize Display on the Disbursement Tab on Processed Activity Screen
Display fields on the Disbursement Tab of a processed activity can be configured to add to or replace fields that are currently displayed. Adding configurability to this screen will allow our Customer’s to customize the screen to reflect information important to their business and allow user’s to complete their tasks more efficiently.
For more information, refer to the XML Guide ActivityResultsScreen
Added an extension point on Inquiry Screen
The Inquiry Screen now supports use of an extension. The extension will allow running Valuation (as part of regular Inquiry Processing), loading Math results (in the extension by a call to InquiryScreenBll) and population of the Inquiry screen fields with results.
For more information, refer to the Inquiry Screen.
Rescheduling of activity by effective date
The Activity Processing feature in OIPA now has the capability to reschedule an activity if it cannot be processed completely due to some unavailability of data or a pending business process. Instead of spawning a new transaction, the date of the original activity is updated, hence reducing the number of activities stored in the system.
For more information, refer to the CSR Guide Activity Statuses, Rules Palette Guide Activity Processing Overview and XML Guide Reschedule Element, Transaction Element.
Improvements to Claim Functionality
OIPA Claim functionality now supports configuration of dynamic Claim fields and manage updates to the Claim fields for a single or multiple claims.
For more information, refer to the XML Guide CreateClaim, UpdateClaimStatus, ClaimScreen, and CopyToClaimFields
Added Audit Trail of changes made to OIPA and Rules Palette user records
Audit trail of changes made to OIPA users and Rules Palette users will now be recorded. The audit records are available when updates are made via Rules Palette or through web services.
REST Service Improvements
REST API Versioning
The OIPA Service API has incorporated a versioning strategy so that enhancements to the API can be made independently outside the normal OIPA releases. This will allow customers to take advantage of new API calls without having to incur the cost of a complete OIPA upgrade.
REST Protocol for Downstream Message Push
The Downstream Message Push (DMP) configuration has added support for sending messages using REST protocol in addition to the existing JMS and SOAP protocols. This protocol supports both XML and Json data formats.
SSO Support for Cycle REST Service
The Cycle REST Service API has added the ability to support single sign-on capability through the use of an extension. This ability will enhance the efficiency of authenticating REST calls to the service as well as enhancing the overall security of the system.
Activity Archival and Retrieval Utility
OIPA has introduced an archiving and retrieving mechanism, to archive required activity data to a separate database through REST APIs. Currently, OIPA processes millions of business processes as activities in the system on a daily basis. This new feature will support efficient data archival mechanism for maintaining growing volumes of activity data.
