Chapter 2 Server Cabling Requirements

Location: part 1, page 1, overview image

The top-left area of the first page contains an image of the front and back panel of an expansion compute node. Call-outs identify the different locations where pre-installed cables must be connected:

  • Two power supplies on the left hand side.

  • The GigaBit Ethernet port, labeled NET0.

  • The optional dual-HBA 32-Gigabit Fibre Channel card in the leftmost PCIe expansion slot.

  • Two internal appliance network connectors in the middle PCIe expansion slot.

Caution

Depending on the physical network architecture of your appliance, the connectors for the internal appliance network are either InfiniBand or Ethernet ports. A specific server model is available for each architecture type. Before you proceed, make sure that the network connectors correspond with the cabling in your appliance.

Note

Cables are not included in the upgrade kit. All cables for all rack units are pre-installed in the appliance rack, and labeled according to the server cabling requirements.
