Properties: Specify Metadata for the Data Source
When you click Create in the Data Sources log, the Properties step of the Data Source Creation guided process displays.
Enter the following information about the data source being created:
- In the Name field, enter a user-friendly name for the data source with a maximum length 64 characters.
- In the Description field, specify the purpose of the data source with a maximum length 4000 characters.
- From the Data Type list, select a business process associated with this data source. The following types of BPs display in the list:
- Line Item BPs (workflow and non-workflow)
- Shell-level published data views

- Select the Enable Caching toggle to disable or enable caching for performance improvement.
Caching can only be enabled if you selected a Line Item Business Process in the previous step. For more information on caching, see How Data Caching Works in Unifier.
- From the Save menu, select any of the following options:
- Click Save to save the entered information.
- Click Save and Close to return to the Data Sources log.
- Click Continue to proceed to Data Elements: Select Data Elements for the Data Source.
Notes:
- You can click Cancel in any step of the guided process to discontinue and return to the Data Sources log.
- It is recommended to click Save in each step to avoid losing any unsaved information or selections made in that step.
