Unlocking Objects

An object is locked if the Locked Flag check box is selected for the object. The Locked By and Locked Date fields indicate who locked the object and the date/time that the object was locked.

Super user can unlock an object, as shown in the following procedure. Alternatively, super user can Release New Version from Workspace Project view, Contents applet.

Once an object is unlocked, the current user or product administrators can lock the object. Once the object is locked, the user can modify the child entities. After completing the testing, the user can unlock the object by clicking the Release button.

To unlock an object

1. Login as super user.

2. From Site map, navigate to the object you want to unlock:

   • Administration - Product -> Product Definitions for product

   • Administration - Product -> Product Classes for class

   • Administration - Product -> Attribute Definitions for attribute

   • Administration – Order Management -> Signals for signal

   • Administration – Order Management -> Variable Maps for variable maps

3. Query and select the record you want to unlock.

4. Deselect the Locked Flag check box on the object.

   Doing this clears the Locked By field.

5. (Optional) Select the Locked Flag check box to lock the object.

   The super user's name appears in the Locked By field – indicating that they are now the administrator of the object.

6. Modify the object as required, and then click Release to release the changed object.
