Installing the Bounce Handler Daemon

This topic contains the information that you need to install the Bounce Handler Daemon. Before installing the Bounce Handler Daemon, make sure that you have completed the installation requirements. For more information, see Requirements for Installing Email Marketing.

To install the Bounce Handler Daemon on a Windows or UNIX server

  1. On a Windows server, run the Bounce Handler Daemon installation program.

  2. On a UNIX server, perform the following steps:

    1. Make an installation directory named bhd using the following command:

      mkdir bhd
      
    2. Copy the Bounce Handler Daemon installation program from the installation media to the directory that you created.

    3. In the Bounce Handler Daemon installation directory, run the Bounce Handler Daemon installation program.

  3. In the Installation dialog box, review the information, and then click Next.

  4. In the Choose Java Virtual Machine dialog box, select the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) that you installed in Requirements for Installing Email Marketing, and then click Next.

    Note: Make sure that you choose the correct JRE. Selecting the wrong JRE prevents the Bounce Handler Daemon from starting properly.
  5. In the Choose Install Folder dialog box, choose the Bounce Handler Daemon installation directory, and then click Next.

    Note: Make sure that there are no spaces in the installation directory path.
  6. Review the Pre-Installation Summary dialog box, and then click Install.

  7. In the Install Complete dialog box, verify the information, and then click Done.

  8. To install the Bounce Handler Daemon as a service, open a command prompt, navigate to the BHD root installation directory, then run the install-win32-service.bat install command.

    To uninstall, run the install-win32-service.bat remove or install-win32-service.bat uninstall command.
