3.2.5.6 Merging An Address
Merging an Address improves network and helps eliminate redundant entries. It
involves combining two or more address ranges into a single address range. This is
frequently done when combining several smaller networks into a single, larger network,
and designating address range to represent the combined entity.
Note:
- There is no limitation on the number of sub ranges that can be merged in a single operation.
- To view the Merge option on the Address menu, the user must enable the option in System Options page.
- Merge operation applies only for "Address Ranges". It does not apply for "Individual" or "Domain" Addresses.
Perform the following steps to merge an address:
- From the main menu of RBAR, click Configuration, and then click Addresses.
- In the below menu bar, click Merge button.
- Select Routing Entity Type:
- IMSI
- IMPI
- IMPU
Note:
Only addresses range with Routing Entity Type equal to IMSI, IMPI, and IMPU may be merged. - Enter Table Name.
- Enter Merging Range.
- Enter Start Address.
- Enter End Address.
- Enter Destination.
- Click Apply.
After providing values for the input fields, click Ok, a confirmation prompt will appear on screen summarizing the address ranges that will be deleted or inserted as part of the merge operation.
