3.2.5.5 Splitting an Address

Splitting an address improves network traffic and resource allocation within a network, it is the process of breaking a single, IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity), MSISDN (Mobile Station International Subscriber Directory Number), and IMPU (IP Multimedia Public Identity) referred to as address range into smaller, distinct sub-ranges.

In the existing Address Resolution feature, sub ranges are not allowed. In order to add subranges, the user must first delete the existing Address range and then insert the new subranges which results in a timeout between the delete and insert operation.

The DSR split range feature allows the user to split or merge existing ranges on a single database transaction with a click, without causing a timeout or impact on the service.

Note:

  • When Enhanced Address Resolution rules cannot route a message, the legacy RBAR rules serve as a backup routing method.
  • To access the Split option on the Address menu, enable it on the System Options page.
  • The split operation applies only to "Address Ranges". not to Individual or Domain addresses.
