Managing SMS aggregators for your account

Important: Managing SMS aggregators for your account is available by default if your account is on the interaction SKU. However, SMS Full Service is its own separate SKU.

If you plan to use the SMS channel for your marketing campaigns, you have choices about which SMS aggregators to use. Oracle Responsys provides a network of SMS aggregators from which you can order services. You can search for aggregators from the SMS Public Aggregator Network page that provide service in the countries in which you want to do business. You can view the prices, terms, and conditions for the types of services provided. Once you have chosen the aggregator that provides the route types you have selected, you can then order the mobile codes and sender names for the route types from that aggregator.

Alternatively, you can request Full Service. With Full Service, Oracle becomes the single contracted vendor for your account. This simplifies the process of managing aggregators and codes for your account, as Oracle Responsys manages it for you. Learn more about the difference between Full Service and Self Service.

To access the Manage Aggregator page:

  1. Log in to Oracle Responsys. If your user role is SMS Aggregator Manager, then the Manage Aggregator page opens. If you are an Account Administrator, do the following:
    1. From the side navigation bar, select Account. (If you do not see the side navigation bar, click the Menu button (aka Hamburger menu) icon.)
    2. In the Search menu box, type SMS, and then click SMS Public Aggregator Network.

If the page does not show a search box but shows the Account Management page, locate the link by pressing Ctrl+F on your keyboard and typing SMS Public in the search box. Click the SMS Public Aggregator Network link.

From the Manage Aggregator page, you can:

Note: To use this page, you must be logged in as a user with either the SMS Aggregator Manager role or the Account Admin role.

Set up aggregators and order codes

SMS Self Service

Note: If your account has Full Service enabled, please see the Full Service instructions. Learn more about Full Service and Self Service.

There are two main tasks you must perform to manage aggregators for your Responsys account:

  • Search for aggregators and compare prices, and then add the aggregator to your account.
  • Order codes and message types from the aggregators you have selected to work with.

To find and add an aggregator:

  1. Access the Manage Aggregator page.
  2. Click the Find Aggregator button. If this is your first time on this page, click the icon below the "Get started by setting up your aggregator" message.

    The Find Aggregator dialog opens.

  3. Select one or more countries where you want to send SMS messages.
  4. Select one or more route types that you want to support for your SMS campaigns. The route type specifies whether you want to send Priority, Promotional, Transactional SMS traffic, or a combination thereof.
    • Send only options - SMS messages sent by a marketer to a mobile device:
      • Mobile Terminated(MT) - One way bulk
      • Mobile Terminated(MT) - Priority
      • Mobile Terminated(MT) - Promotional
      • Mobile Terminated(MT) - Transactional
    • Send and Receive options - SMS messages sent to a mobile device, and from a mobile device to a marketer:
      • Mobile Terminated - Promotional + Mobile Originated (MT+MO)
  5. Optionally, select Short or Long code types to limit your search to the desired code type.
    • Short code: Short codes are special numbers provided by carriers. They are used for sending and receiving SMS messages in a single country. They are typically five or six digits long.
    • Long code: Long codes are used for sending and receiving SMS text messages internationally. They are numeric and can be up to 15 digits long.
  6. Optionally, if you know the aggregator that you want to use, select the aggregator's name to show only their plans in the results.
  7. Optionally, change the Deliverability score range by moving the slider to show the desired range. You can also exclude aggregators that do not have (or have not declared) a deliverability score by deselecting the check box labeled Include aggregators that do not have deliverability score yet.
  8. Click Find.

The results show a list of aggregators that met your search criteria. For each country/route type combination, the results show the setup fees and prices for their services. It also shows deliverability scores.

To contact an aggregator for further details: Click the aggregator's Contact us link.

To further refine the results list: Use the filters on the left side of the Find Aggregator dialog and click Find.

About Deliverability score: This score is the average deliverability (messages delivered divided by messages intended), computed with data from the past 90 days. Each plan shows either a deliverability score (expressed as a percent) or the message "No data available."
Deliverability scores are either an Oracle-derived score or an Aggregator-declared score. Oracle-derived scores are color-coded: green for 100-90%, yellow for 80-89.99%, or red if the score is less than 80%. If an Oracle-derived score is not available, then the Aggregator-declared score is displayed. Aggregator-declared scores are shown in gray. This score is provided by the aggregator and is not validated by Oracle.
To view more details about a deliverability score: move your mouse cursor over the number. This displays the Oracle-derived value (if available), when it was last updated, and the Aggregator-declared score, if available.

  9. From the resulting list, use the check boxes to choose the services that you want from the aggregators.
    • You may choose route types across multiple aggregators.
    • A service for long code might cover several countries. Move your mouse cursor over the country to see all of the countries serviced in a given plan.
  10. Click Review and Submit.

The Review and Submit dialog opens.

  11. Click Back to change your choices, or click Submit to place your order for the route types with the aggregators.

After the aggregator(s) confirm your order(s), you can use codes for the requested route types from within Responsys.

To order codes for your route types:

  1. Access the Manage Aggregator page.
  2. From the list of aggregators, click the Configure icon for the aggregator from which you want to order codes.
  3. Click Order codes.
  4. For each route type, enter the quantity and the sender name. Sender names are required when the route type is Mobile Terminated (MT) - One way bulk, but they are optional for other route types. Each sender name is limited to 11 characters and may include letters (a-z or A-Z) and numbers (0-9).
  5. Click Order for each set of codes.
  6. Review your order. Click Cancel to go back and change the order, or click Place your order to place the order and continue.

The Order codes page displays a message that the order was placed successfully, and an email is sent to the Responsys user who placed the order and to the Responsys Account Administrator(s).

The Order codes page shows the status of each order:

  • "In-Progress" means that the order is being serviced by the aggregator.
  • "Completed" means that the order is completed and the code is ready to use.
  • "Rejected" means that the aggregator has rejected the order for some reason. Click the Details button to view more information.
