What's New
Release 7.4
F14597-01
February 2019
This document describes the enhancements that are delivered in Oracle Communications Design Studio patches.
The following sections describe the enhancements delivered in this patch.
This release of Design Studio introduces the functionality to import Unified Inventory Management (UIM) specification definitions for physical equipment from an external file. You can now import the specifications into Design Studio using exchange format (XF) files.
This feature provides an easy and automated process to introduce new physical equipment specifications into UIM. You can reuse the data schema of the imported specifications to create new specifications of the same type.
The import framework in Design Studio within the UIM plugin supports the following UIM specifications:
Physical device
Logical device
Equipment
Equipment holder
Physical port
Device interface
Physical connector
Logical device configuration
There are limitations on importing these UIM specification definitions. The limitations are:
Elements of an existing entity cannot be deleted.
Existing elements cannot be renamed while an import is in progress.
Entities with the same name or ID cannot be imported. Subsequent imports of an entity with the same name or ID return the following errors, in which case you must re-import the definitions:
Blocked: If the Exchange Format syntax is not accurate, the import is blocked and the system returns a warning message
Ignored: If the Exchange Format syntax is accurate, but there are specifications that are not supported, then the import of those specifications is ignored. An error log with information about the specifications that are ignored is generated.
See Design Studio Developer's Guide for information on how to import specifications using Exchange Format files.
