Registering the Remote Agent Appliance

For using Oracle Cloud Migrations, register the remote agent appliance with a source environment.

Before you register the remote agent appliance, ensure that it is installed.
Perform the following steps to register a remote agent appliance.
  1. Log in to the vCenter vSphere Client of the external environment and click the appliance VM on the left pane.
  2. To identify the IP address of the remote agent appliance, launch the web console of the vSphere client by clicking the virtual machine on the right pane. Note down the IP address in the Summary.
  3. Open the Oracle Cloud Console navigation menu and click Migration & Disaster Recovery. Under Cloud Migrations, click Remote Connections.
  4. From the list of environments, click the environment name link for which you want to register the remote agent appliance.
  5. On the Source Environment Details page, click Register Agent.
  6. On the Register agent page, enter the following details:
    1. Name: Enter the name of the remote agent appliance that is pre-populated.
    2. Agent Host Name or IP: Enter the remote agent appliance's host name or IP address. For example, 10.100.101.10.
    3. Port: Enter the remote agent appliance's port number. For example, 3000.
  7. Click Register Agent. You are redirected to the remote agent appliance in a new browser tab to continue the registration process.
  8. Enter the agent display name and click Register.
  9. You are redirected to your tenancy in the OCI Console with the agent registration confirmation page. Click Confirm to complete the registration process.
The agent details are visible in the OCI Console. After a short while, the agent Heartbeat displays as Healthy, and the state is Active. You can now use this environment to discover assets.
