Register the remote agent appliance with a source
environment.
-
Sign in to the vCenter vSphere Client of the external environment and select the appliance VM on the left pane.
-
To identify the IP address of the remote agent appliance, launch the web console of the vSphere client by selecting the virtual machine on the right pane. Note down the IP address in the Summary.
-
In the Oracle Cloud Console, open the navigation menu and select Migration & Disaster Recovery. Under Cloud Migrations, select Remote Connections.
-
On the Source environment list page, select the environment name for which you want to register the remote agent appliance.
-
On the environment details page, select the Actions menu and then select Register agent.
The Register agent page opens, with the remote agent appliance's name prepopulated.
-
Enter the following details:
- The remote agent appliance's host name or IP address. For example, 10.100.101.10
- The remote agent appliance's port number. For example, 3000.
- (Optional) Select Generate HTTPS redirect URL for OCB Appliance versions later than 1.0.4081 to generate a secure redirect link.
- (Optional) Tags to organize the resource. To apply a defined tag, you must have permissions to use the tag namespace. For more information about tagging, see Resource Tags. If you're not sure whether to apply tags, skip this option (you can apply tags later) or ask your administrator.
-
Select Submit. You're redirected to the remote agent appliance in a new browser tab to continue the registration process. If you get the following browser error during registration:
Client sent an HTTP request to an HTTPS server.
Change the redirect URL to use https:// instead of http://.
-
Enter the agent display name and select Register. You're redirected to the tenancy in the Oracle Cloud Console with the agent registration confirmation page. Select Confirm to complete the registration process.
The agent details are visible in the Oracle Cloud Console. After a short while, the agent Heartbeat displays as Healthy, and the state is Active. You can now use this environment to discover assets.
