Adding OpenAI to a Cost Advisor Workspace

Connect OpenAI Platform, ChatGPT Enterprise, or both to provide usage and cost data to Cost Advisor for AI.

Cost Advisor for AI supports OpenAI Platform and ChatGPT Enterprise connections. ChatGPT Business plans aren't supported.

Before you begin, identify the organizations or workspaces whose data you want to include, and obtain API keys with the following scopes from their administrators:

  • OpenAI ChatGPT: The API key requires the chatgpt.enterprise.compliance_logs_platform.costs.read scope.
  • OpenAI Compliance: The API key requires the chatgpt.enterprise.compliance_logs_platform.conversation_message.read scope.
  • OpenAI Platform: The API key requires the api.usage.read scope.

When you add the OpenAI provider, enter the required credit pricing for ChatGPT Enterprise connections. Use the negotiated prices per credit and their effective dates from your agreement with OpenAI.

  1. Open the workspace, select AI providers, and then select Add in the OpenAI row.
  2. In Add OpenAI provider, enable platform connections, enterprise connections, or both.
    Add at least one connection for the selected provider.
  3. (Optional) For OpenAI Platform connections, enter the Organization ID and Admin API key for each organization that you want to track.
    Turn on Enable platform connections. Select Add another platform to enter another connection.
  4. (Optional) For ChatGPT Enterprise connections, turn on Include ChatGPT Enterprise. Under Organizations, enter the Organization identifier and the credential for that connection in Admin API key (Organizations).
    Use Add organization to enter another enterprise connection.
  5. For ChatGPT Enterprise connections, set up credit pricing. Select Add credit pricing and enter an Effective date and Price per credit ($).
    Credit pricing is required and applies to all ChatGPT Enterprise connections in this Cost Advisor workspace. It doesn't apply to OpenAI Platform connections.
  6. Under Cost Advisor Insights for OpenAI, turn on Enable AI Cost Advisor insights.
    When enabled, Cost Advisor for AI processes prompt content to identify likely intent and suggest models that might cost less.
    Enter the OpenAI workspace ID (workspace_id) and Compliance API key for the insights connection. Use the key with the conversation-message scope listed in the setup requirements.
  7. Select Add provider.
    Adding the provider takes about 10 minutes.

To review Cost Advisor data and insights, ensure that the workspace also has a Fusion EPM destination.
