Adding a Destination

Add a Fusion EPM destination to use Cost Advisor data and insights for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.

Important

Each workspace supports one Oracle Fusion Cloud Enterprise Performance Management (Fusion EPM) destination. Cost Advisor for AI delivers data and insights to this Fusion EPM instance for budgeting, forecasting, and reporting. Use Fusion EPM to review costs and insights, plan future spending, investigate spending patterns, and create reports.

Note

You must have a Fusion EPM instance and an EPM Enterprise license to connect Cost Advisor for AI to the Fusion EPM environment.

A destination is required to view Cost Advisor data and insights. Use the OCI Console to manage connections and Fusion EPM to review the results.

Preparing and Connecting the EPM Destination

After creating a workspace, we recommend preparing Fusion EPM before adding AI providers. Coordinate with your EPM and identity domain administrators to complete the following setup:

  1. Download the setup package: Open the workspace's Destination tab and select Add destination. In step 1, Prepare Fusion EPM, download the ZIP containing the EPM application configuration, onboarding files, and setup guide.
  2. Complete the EPM setup: Have your EPM administrator prepare the EPM Automate environment, set up access, prepare the Cost Advisor metadata and data files with your finance team, and run the supplied onboarding batch. Review the logs to confirm that the EPM application configuration was imported successfully. See Preparing Fusion EPM for Cost Advisor for AI.
  3. Add providers and mappings: Add at least one AI provider. We recommend adding both person and project ID mappings before connecting the destination so that the delivered Cost Advisor data includes your cost allocations.
  4. Set up the EPM identity domain: Return to destination setup, confirm that you completed Prepare Fusion EPM, and select Next. Have the identity domain and EPM administrators set up the confidential application, public signing certificate, target EPM service scope, and secondary audience. See Setting Up Identity Access for Fusion Connections.
  5. Connect the destination: Enter the EPM and identity domain connection details and submit the setup. See Adding a Fusion EPM Destination.

Complete the EPM setup and confirm that the application configuration was imported successfully before continuing to identity domain setup. The EPM administrator runs the onboarding batch in the customer-managed EPM Automate environment.

Adding and Checking the Connection

After you select Add destination in the setup drawer, Cost Advisor for AI checks the connection in the background. You can continue working and review progress and errors in Work requests. See Monitoring Cost Advisor Work Requests.

The destination details show its state, created and last-updated dates, EPM connection, and identity domain connection. Select Edit destination to update its connection details. Saving an update starts a new validation work request for the same connection.

When validation succeeds, the work request status is SUCCEEDED. If validation fails, review the error code, message, and timestamp. After correcting the configuration, update the same connection to start validation again. See Resolving EPM Connection Validation Issues.

A successful connection check confirms that validation completed. Data becomes available for reporting after processing, delivery, and loading into the EPM application.

Data Processing and EPM Reporting

Oracle Cost Advisor for AI processes data daily at 09:00 UTC. Each run processes the previous day's data, using UTC day boundaries. For a newly onboarded workspace, processing begins the following day.

Cost Advisor for AI delivers files to the EPM inbox. The EPM administrator manages the Data Integration mappings and import and load processing that make the delivered data available in the application and its reports. Have the EPM administrator confirm that this processing is set up for the delivered files.

The 09:00 UTC schedule identifies when Cost Advisor for AI processes data. It isn't a guaranteed report-availability time. Successful delivery to the inbox doesn't confirm that EPM has imported or loaded the files, or that a report has been updated. Have the EPM administrator check the load results and reports after delivery.

For recurring processing, see Setting Up Daily Pipeline Runs. For reporting views and planning activities, see Reviewing AI Costs in Fusion EPM.
