You must have a Fusion EPM instance and an EPM Enterprise license to connect Cost Advisor for AI to the Fusion EPM environment.
Cost Advisor for AI brings together usage and billing information from connected AI providers. By connecting spending to organizational owners, budgets, and forecasts, finance and business teams can understand cost drivers, identify budget risks, and evaluate opportunities to improve cost efficiency.
How Data Supports Financial Planning
Cost Advisor for AI normalizes data from different pricing and consumption models, such as seats, tokens, credits, and API calls. It maps the data to organizational owners and financial planning dimensions.
Person and project ID mappings both contribute to Fusion EPM's Entity hierarchy, the organizational structure used for cost attribution. Person mapping supplies the hierarchy for per-user costs. Project ID mapping supplies it for OpenAI API, Anthropic Console, and OCI Generative AI costs. Each mapping defines its hierarchy independently. See How Cost Advisor Uses the Mappings.
Fusion EPM Planning receives aggregated actuals for budgeting, forecasting, and cost allocation, along with model optimization information. Use Fusion EPM to review Cost Advisor data and insights. Use the OCI Console to manage connections and monitor setup operations.
The available reporting detail depends on the connected sources, the information they expose, and the organizational mappings you set up. Spending controls depend on the provider capabilities and integration points available.
Before Reviewing Costs
Complete Fusion EPM preparation, activate and reload the Oracle Cost Advisor for AI navigation flow, and connect the destination.
Have the EPM administrator set up daily pipeline runs and verify that the current files have been loaded. Successful connection validation alone doesn't mean that reports contain current data. See Data Processing and EPM Reporting.
Reporting Views

Planning and Spending Reviews
- Review AI spending: Analyze actual costs and usage trends by provider, department, application, and model.
- Plan budgets and forecasts: Compare actual spending with budgets, review variances, and update projections as usage changes.
- Establish cost ownership: Associate spending with departments, cost centers, and business owners to support accountability and cost allocation.
- Review budget governance: Use approved budgets, thresholds, and approval decisions to guide spending reviews.
- Investigate spending patterns: Identify significant increases and concentrations of spending that require review.
- Evaluate potential savings: Review model recommendations and estimated savings to identify opportunities for more cost-efficient AI usage.
- Assess business value: Compare spending with customer-defined outcomes, such as cost per completed task or resolved ticket, where outcome data is available.
Evaluating Recommendations and Savings
Model recommendations and savings estimates support decisions by the responsible business or application owner. Before changing models, assess whether an alternative meets the workload's quality and business requirements.
For definitions of the task categories used by insights, see Intent Classification Definitions.
Estimated savings represent potential opportunities. Realized savings depend on the changes you implement and subsequent usage. Business-value analysis also depends on customer-defined measures and available outcome data.
