Create a Database Group

You can create a Database Group to group Managed Databases that reside in different compartments.

To create a Database Group:

  1. Go to the Database groups page.
  2. On the left pane under Scope, select the compartment in which you want to create a Database Group.
  3. Click Create database group.
  4. In the Create database group dialog box:
    1. Provide the following details:
      1. Name: Enter the name you want to assign to the Database Group.
      2. Description: Optionally, enter a description for the Database Group.
      3. Show advanced options: Optionally, add free-form or defined tags to the Database Group. If you have the permissions required to create a Database Group, then you also have permissions to add free-form tags. To add a defined tag, you must have permissions to use the tag namespace.
        Note

        It's recommended that you set values for the Oracle-Standard tags as these tags ensure consistency across your tenancy.

The new Database Group is listed on the Database Groups page.

You can click the Actions icon (Actions) for the Database Group and perform the following tasks:

  • View details: Click to go to the Database group details page and perform various tasks such as viewing the details of the Database Group and adding Managed Databases to the Database Group. For more information, see Add Managed Databases to a Database Group.
  • Copy OCID: Click to copy the OCID of the Database Group.
  • Move resource: Click to move the Database Group from the current compartment to another compartment.
  • Delete: Click to delete the Database Group.
