Prevent Learners from Unenrolling from Certifications

Certification setup includes an option to prevent learners from unenrolling themselves from a certification. This supports mandatory or compliance-oriented learning where learner self-removal is not appropriate. The option appears on the Create and Update Learning Certification pages. When enabled, learners remain subscribed unless an administrator or governed process changes the assignment.

The feature helps preserve certification participation for required learning programs and reduces accidental or unauthorized removal from mandatory certifications.

To prevent learners from unsubscribing from a learning certification, administrators can now select the new Prevent from Unsubscribing checkbox. If an administrator selects this check box, then the Unsubscribe field in the Certification Information section, Learning Certification page for learners is automatically displayed as No.If an administrator selects the Prevent Unsubscribing check box, then the Unsubscribe field in the Certification Information section, Learning Certification page for learners is automatically displayed as No.

Steps to enable and configure

• Identify certifications where learners should not be allowed to unsubscribe themselves.
• Set the Prevent from Unsubscribing option on the Certification setup page.
• Test the learner self-service view to confirm the learner cannot remove themself from the certification.
• Document the administrative process learners should use if they believe a mandatory certification was assigned in error.

• Use this setting for required training, regulatory certifications, or role-based learning that should remain assigned.
• Communicate the restriction clearly so learners know why self-unenrollment is unavailable.
• Review administrator security and support procedures because removal now depends on authorized administrative action.
