Opening Journals in Smart View

From a journal, you can open and work with the journal directly in Oracle Smart View for Office. To launch Smart View, you must have it installed. See the Oracle Smart View for Office User's Guide.

When you open a journal through Smart View, the journal opens in a new tab. If Smart View is not already open, the system launches it before opening the journal.

This function is only available for saved journals. If you edit a journal and then launch Smart View, only the last saved details are displayed.

The journal details displayed in Smart View are the same as in Oracle Hyperion Financial Management, including POV, journal properties, and available actions. However, the line items table in Smart View displays all the dimensions.

To open a journal in Smart View:

  1. Open a saved journal.
  2. From the journal top menu bar, click Open in Smart View.

    The system launches Microsoft Excel and opens the journal in Smart View.
