Understanding What Type of Link

The What type of link section on the content frame enables you to map parameters from the content to the enabled EnterpriseOne form. This section enables you to create a static link or a dynamic link.

Creating a static link is the default option. If you choose the Static Link option, your content cannot be mapped to the enabled EnterpriseOne form. When a user or an event rule process changes the enabled EnterpriseOne form, the content information does not change.

The Dynamic Link option enables you to map a parameter from the content to a form-level field value or grid-row column on the enabled EnterpriseOne form. If you create a dynamic link, when a user or an event rule process changes the EnterpriseOne linked value, the content in the content frame is automatically updated to reflect information associated with the change.

The system lists the content parameters that you can map in table format.

You can enter custom text in the Static Value field. The custom text is added at the end of one or more parameter values. Custom text provides flexibility for defining the parameter value; for example, a web page URL parameter accepts data like trackNum=TRACK123456; 123456 is a field value on the EnterpriseOne form, but the prefix TRACK must be added as customized text before the field value 123456. You can change your custom text by clicking the question mark beside the parameter value, change the text in the Static Value field, and then clicking the plus sign next to the Static Value. Although there is no limitation to the size of the custom text, the text appears in the Parameter Value column, and the width of this field is limited.

When you define multiple field values as dynamic, the value in the Separator field determines how the fields are separated. The default value is a comma. If you do not want to use a separator, you can remove the value from the Separator field. You can specify a different value as a separator.
