Viewing and Using Embedded EnterpriseOne Form Content on a Layout

Embedded EnterpriseOne form content behaves slightly differently depending on whether the embedded EnterpriseOne form is a standard EnterpriseOne form or an external form.

Standard Embedded EnterpriseOne Forms

You can update information on an embedded EnterpriseOne form. Changes that you make and save on an embedded EnterpriseOne form updates the Oracle JD Edwards EnterpriseOne database.

In addition to the content frame title bar, which contains the content name and popup and minimize icons, content frames that contain embedded EnterpriseOne forms also show the EnterpriseOne form title bar. Functionality on embedded EnterpriseOne forms is restricted. All of the embedded EnterpriseOne forms provide Save and Refresh capabilities. The OK icon enables you to submit and save changes. The Refresh icon cancels unsaved changes. Some of the embedded EnterpriseOne forms provide additional capability, such as Find and Delete. You cannot access other forms from an embedded EnterpriseOne form. Row and Form exits and hyperlinks do not work on embedded EnterpriseOne forms.

External Forms as Embedded EnterpriseOne Forms (Release 9.2.1)

An external form is the window through which users interact with an external application like an Application Development Framework (ADF) application, or a JET page or Composed EnterpriseOne Page.

The principle value of an external form is that it provides a direct link to an external application and allows it to be displayed within an EnterpriseOne web client. This means it can be a task, within a Composed EnterpriseOne Page, on a menu, linked to from an EnterpriseOne page, accessed through Fastpath, or used as content within the Composite Application Framework.

The functionality available for the embedded EnterpriseOne form depends on the functionality built into the ADF application or JET page.

Note: You cannot embed an external form with a Composed EnterpriseOne Page as its external application type in a Composite Application Framework layout.

For more information on creating external forms, see "Understanding External Forms" in theJD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools Form Design Aid Guide.
