Preparing to Upgrade to the 32-bit Version of Release 9.2
The Upgrade order should be:
Save off the environment that you are upgrading from. You may need a saved copy in this state for recovering UDOs and for determining custom modifications to objects.
Install the Deployment Server, which includes JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools Release 9.2.
Install the Platform Pack, which includes JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Applications Release 9.2.
Install a Server Manager Agent on the Deployment Server.
Register the Deployment Server with Server Manager.
Use Server Manager to install the latest 32-bit JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools Release for the Deployment Server that is required to support JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Applications Release 9.2. Tools Release 9.2.5.x supports 32-bit. Tools Release 9.2.6.x and above supports only 64-bit.
Install the latest planner update.
For example, if you are upgrading from JD Edwards EnterpriseOne 8.9 to JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Release 9.2, you should install the most recent Release 9.2 planner update.
Run the Installation Planner.
Run the Installation Workbench.
Build packages.
Run post upgrade manual table conversions.
Apply all ESUs from the update center to get fix current.
Use Visual Compare to retrofit custom objects.
By following this procedure, you are assured of saving time and avoiding extra work associated with retrofitting and retesting custom code in the future.
Before you begin the upgrade, you must prepare your current development, production, and prototype environments and back up your Deployment Server, Enterprise Servers, and databases.
You must complete these preparatory tasks before the upgrade team arrives.
