Understanding Unique Document Code (ATCUD)

The Portuguese tax authority (AT) has published a requirement to include a unique document code (ATCUD) in invoices, shipping documents, and SAFT files. ATCUD is a concatenation of a validation code of the document series provided by AT and the sequential number of the document within the series, which are separated by a hyphen.

For example, when invoice number is FT SGPORTUGAL/0000000008, the ATCUD is CSDF7T5H-0000000008.

To obtain this validation code from the Portuguese tax authority, taxpayers must provide AT with the document sequence identifier along with the document type, first number of the series, and the expected start date for the sequence for which the validation code is requested.

Note: The system stores the validation code in the Legal Document Next Numbers - Tag File (F74L001T) and the ATCUD code in the Legal Document Header - Tag File (F74L301T).
