Balance Sheet Case Study Task: Create a Layout Version and Extract the Data Sample

To create a layout version and extract the data sample, complete the following steps:

  1. Access the Work with Statement Definitions form.

  2. On the Work with Statement Definitions form, locate the (initials) BALSHTBYBU statement definition.

  3. Select the (initials) BALSHTBYBU statement definition, and then select Manage Layouts from the Row menu.

  4. On the Manage Layouts-Revise Layout Version form, select Add Version from the Form menu.

  5. On the Revise Statement Version form, enter LAYOUTVERSION in the Statement Version Name field.

  6. Enter Version for Layout Creation in the Statement Version Description field.

  7. Enter 174 in the Based on Company field.

  8. Enter 18 in the Fiscal Year field and 6 in the Period Number field.

  9. Enter 5 in the Account Level of Detail field.

  10. Select the Calculate YTD Net Income or Loss check box.

  11. Select the Suppress Zero Balances check box.

  12. Click the Data Selection button on the menu bar.

  13. On the Revise Statement Version Data Selection form, click the plus symbol (+) for the Business Unit field to add Business Unit as a data selection criterion.

  14. On the Query Manager panel, enter 174 for the business unit value.

  15. Click Save on the Query Manager panel.

  16. Click Close on the Revise Statement Version Data Selection form.

  17. Click Continue on the Manage Layouts- Revise Layout Version form.

  18. On the Report Definition panel on the Revise Statement Definitions form, click the Create Layout icon to generate the data sample and access the BI Publisher Layout Editor.

  19. On the Create Layout window of the Layout Editor, select the Table template.

Caution: If you need to exit the BI Publisher Layout Editor, do not click the Sign Out icon or you will log out of the server. Instead, click the Close icon (the X in the upper right corner of the window) to exit the window.
