Consolidated Income Statement Case Study: Set Up Row Definitions

To create the row definitions for the consolidated income statement, you set up row definitions that the system will use in conjunction with column definitions and data selection to retrieve account balances.

According to the plan that you developed, you need to create row definitions to retrieve account balances for your revenue and expense accounts. You also want to:

  • Provide subtotals for specific sections in the statement.

  • Include account descriptions on the statement output.

To achieve those results, you use the information in the following table to set up your row definitions:

Enter Subtotal Section in the Row Definition Title field.

You will use the same subtotal row definition for all instances of subtotal sections,. except for the Total Revenue section.

Description: Subtotal Section Sign Reversed

Enter Subtotal Section Sign Reversed in the Row Definition Title field.

You will use the this subtotal row definition for instances of subtotal sections where the sign needs to be reverse like Total Revenue
