Consolidated Income Statement Case Study Task: Format the Object Account Descriptions Text

Note: You can access an existing layout that was created for the One View Financial Statements feature only by using the Manage Layout option on the Work with Statement Definition form. If you exited the Layout Editor after you completed the last set of steps and need to re-access an existing layout, see Consolidated Income Statement Case Study Task: Accessing an Existing Layout (Optional).

When you set up your row definition, you selected the Enable Level of Detail Rollup check box. In the statement version that you ran, you also specified detail level 6 for the rollup. Because you enabled the level of detail, you can use the levels as a basis for formatting the account descriptions and balances. The steps in this section have you format levels of detail 4, 5, and 6. You could also format levels 7 and 8 by specifying an indentation level for them.

Note: The Description column has a row of Xs along the top of the column cells, and the account balance columns have a 0 (zero) at the top of the column cells. These values indicate that the Description column is a string value and the account balances column are numeric values. The Xs and 0s do not print on the statement output, so there is no need to hide or format the values.

To format the descriptions text, complete the following steps:

  1. Select the Object Account Description column and select Highlight from the Conditional Formatting section on the Column tab.
