Grouping Elements

When you set up a data row definition with element grouping, you select from a list of grouping elements. Click the visual assist icon for the Grouping Element field to view a list of the grouping elements from which you can select. The grouping elements list displayed in the form are a subset of data items in the F0901, F0902, and F0006 tables. Each grouping element in the list indicates the table from which the system obtains the element information when you use the grouping element. You can use only the grouping elements provided in the list. Do not add additional elements or you might experience unexpected results.

As you select elements for grouping, the system assigns a sequence number for the element. You can change the sequence numbers as you choose. After you change the sequencing, you can click the Re-sequence button to have the sequencing change in the interface. The system does not save the sequence numbers that you enter; they exist only to help you visualize the elements that you include in a row definition. If you access a row after you have saved it, the system assigns sequence numbers beginning with 1, and orders the grouping elements in the order in which you placed them the last time that you changed the sequencing.

You can specify whether you want the system to return a description for many of the grouping elements. The description appears in the data-set that the OVFS functionality sends to the BI Publisher Layout Editor and you can use it in your financial statement.
