Understanding Statement Definitions

After you create the row definitions and column definitions that you need for your financial statements, you create statement definitions to identify which row definitions and column definitions to use on a statement. The statement definition is the data model that the system passes to the BI Publisher Layout Editor (Layout Editor). You use the Layout Editor to design the layout for your financial statements.

As you add row definitions and column definitions to the statement definition, you can group the row and column definitions into sections. Grouping the definitions into sections enables you to group multiple rows that share the same columns into a single section for statement generation. You can group together into sections only the rows that have the same attributes, such as the same grouping elements. You can create one section only, or you can create multiple sections for a statement.

The level of detail rollup functionality is applied to an entire section in the statement definition if the Enable Level of Detail Rollup check box is selected for the rows in the section. See Enabling Level Of Detail (LOD) Rollup.

After you create the statement definition, you continue the process of creating One View Financial Statements (OVFS) by setting up versions and layouts. You must set up a statement definition before you can create a layout and version for a statement.
