Process Flow for Creating Statement Definitions

The following list illustrates the steps to perform in the Statement Definitions program to create a statement definition:

  1. Complete the Statement Definition Name and Statement Definition Description fields.

  2. Optionally, specify the maximum number of columns to work with in the Maximum Columns field.

The system provide a default value of 25, which is the maximum number of column definitions that you can associate with a row definition. You can change the number to a lower value to make it easier to navigate the fields for each row.

  3. Enter a row definition in the first line.

  4. For a data row definition, enter one or more column definitions.

The columns in all rows within a section must be the same. The system copies the column definitions from the first row in the section to all rows in the section and disables the column fields.

  5. Optionally, enter a section number and description.

If you do not enter a section number and a section description, the system uses the next number in the sequence to number the section and uses the name of the row description for the section description. The value in the Section Description field must be unique for each section.

  6. (Optional) Enter additional row definitions for a section.

To add an additional row definition to a section, enter the section number that you want to add the row definition to. If you do not enter a section number, the system adds the row definition to a new section.

You can add as many row definitions to a section as you need. The system performs validations on the additional row definitions that you add. The system enforces restrictions on which types of row definitions that you can include in a section with other row definitions

See Validations for Sections in Statement Definitions

  7. (Optional) Create additional sections.

Repeat rows 3-6 to add additional sections to the statement definition.

  8. (Optional) Add category codes to the statement definition.

  9. Save your record.
