Key Performance Indicators(KPIs) for Warehouse Picking

Key performance indicators are quantifiable measurements used to gauge a company’s overall long-term performance. Charts and graphs depict how well the business performs over a specified period. KPIs help to manage and improve performance of business processes. Warehouse Picking process flow has the following KPIs:

  • Pick Cycle Time

This KPI measures the performance of the branch plants by calculating the average time from the moment the pick request is created in the warehouse until it is pick confirmed.

Pick Cycle Time = Sum of Pick Time for All Requests / Number of Pick Requests

To set up the Pick Cycle Time KPI chart, click the Menu This image is described in surrounding text. and select E1 Pick Cycle Time in the query field. You can set up the Goal for this chart by providing value in Override Default Threshold Hour field. If this field is left blank, the system takes the value from Pick Cycle Time Threshold processing option.
  • Backorder Percentage

This KPI that measures the performance of the branch plants by calculating the percentage of orders that cannot be fulfilled at the time they are received due to stockouts, which can happen during unexpected spikes in demand.

Backorder Percentage = (Number of customer orders which got into backorder / Number of customer orders placed) × 100

To set up the Backorder Percentage KPI chart, click the Menu This image is described in surrounding text. and select E1 Backorder Percentage in the query field. You can set up the Goal for this chart by providing value in Override Default Threshold Percentage field. If this field is left blank, the system takes the value from Backorder Percentage Threshold processing option.
  • On Time Pick Completion

This KPI measures the performance of the branch plants by calculating the percentage of pick requests that were completed (confirmed) on time.

On Time Pick Completion = (Completed Pick Requests / Total Pick Requests) × 100

Completed Pick Requests = Number of Pick Requests that are completed within target pick completion time.

To set up the On Time Pick Completion KPI chart, click the Menu This image is described in surrounding text. and select E1 On Time Pick Completion in the query field. You can set up the Goal for this chart by providing value in Override Default Threshold Percentage field. If this field is left blank, the system takes the value from On Time Pick Completion Threshold processing option. You can setup the Target Time in KPI chart by entering the value in Override Default Threshold Pick Completion Time (Hours) field. You can change the value for this field by overriding the value in this field.
