Reviewing the PeopleTools Middleware DPK Builder Script Usage
Here are the requirements for using the PeopleTools Middleware DPK Builder scripts.
These scripts are located in the top level of files obtained after you extract the PTMWDB-<REL>.zip file.
- Microsoft Windows: ptmwdb.bat
- Linux: ./ptmwdb.sh
This table describes the script parameters and options. All script parameters require double dashes (–).
| Parameter | Options | Description |
|---|---|---|
|
|
Linux or Microsoft Windows |
The Middleware DPK will be generated for the specified operating system. |
|
|
Specify the full path to the directory where CPUs or DPK files will be downloaded or created. |
The output directory must be created before running the script and must be empty. The user running the tool must have read/write permission to this directory. |
|
MOS credentials (Required) |
Supply your My Oracle Support user ID and password through either standard input, environment variables, or script prompts. |
See the information following this table. |

Choose CPUs for all or selective components. If no value is given, it will default to ALL. Separate the CPU codes with commas. |

Supplying My Oracle Support User ID and Password
The PeopleTools Middleware DPK Builder script requires input of a valid My Oracle Support (MOS) user ID and password. There are three methods for providing MOS credentials.
- Provide the MOS user ID and password in a file through standard input.
Store the MOS user ID and password in a text file. This documentation uses the sample name mos.txt for the MOS credentials file.
mos_user_id=<User ID> mos_password=<password>When you run the script, provide the full path to MOS credentials file via standard input using redirection or a pipe.
- Linux:
./ptmwdb.sh --os_type [Linux|Windows] --output_dir [output directory] [optional parameters] < [MOS credentials file] - Command prompt on Microsoft Windows:
ptmwdb.bat --os_type [Linux|Windows] --output_dir [output directory] [optional parameters] < [MOS credentials file] - PowerShell on Microsoft Windows:
Get-Content [MOS credentials file] | .\ptmwdb.bat --os_type [Linux|Windows] --output_dir [output directory] [optional parameters]
- Linux:
- Set environment variables for the MOS user ID and password.
- Linux:
export MOS_USER_ID=<User ID> export MOS_PASSWORD=<password> ./ptmwdb.sh --os_type [Linux|Windows] --output_dir [output directory] [optional parameters] - Command prompt on Windows:
set MOS_USER_ID=<User ID> set MOS_PASSWORD=<password> ptmwdb.bat --os_type [Linux|Windows] --output_dir [output directory] [optional parameters] - PowerShell on Windows:
$env:MOS_USER_ID="<User ID>" $env:MOS_PASSWORD="<password>" .\ptmwdb.bat --os_type [Linux|Windows] --output_dir [output directory] [optional parameters]
- Linux:
- Supply the MOS user ID and password in response to script prompts.
Enter MOS user ID: Enter MOS password:The script prompts appear only if there is no MOS credentials file, and no environment variables are set. The prompt for the password does not display characters as you type.
If the MOS credentials are supplied using more than one of these options, this table describes the expected outcome:
| Standard Input | Environment Variables | Outcome |
|---|---|---|
| MOS user ID and MOS password in text file. | MOS user ID and MOS password set | Use MOS user ID and MOS password from standard input. |
| MOS user ID only in text file. | MOS password set | Use MOS user ID from standard input and MOS password from environment variable. |
| MOS password only in text file. | MOS user ID set | Use MOS password from standard input and MOS user ID from environment variable. |
| None | MOS user ID and MOS password set | Use MOS user ID and MOS password from environment variables |
| None | MOS user ID set | Use MOS user ID from environment variable and prompt for MOS password. |
| None | MOS password set | Use MOS password from environment variable and prompt for MOS user ID. |
| None | None | Prompt for MOS user ID and MOS password. |
