Process Overview

Here is a brief overview of the PeopleTools Middleware DPK Builder process.

  1. Deploy PS_HOME for the current PeopleSoft PeopleTools releases, if not already deployed.
  2. Copy PS_HOME/setup/PsMWDPKBuilder/PTMWDB-<REL>.zip to a temporary directory and extract it.
  3. Run the script to generate a Middleware DPK, download CPUs only, or generate a report.
  4. If you generate a Middleware DPK, follow the instructions to apply it to an existing environment.

For detailed instructions, see Using PeopleTools Middleware DPK Builder to Build PT-MW-DPK on Linux and Using PeopleTools Middleware DPK Builder to Build PT-MW-DPK on Microsoft Windows.

When you run the script to generate a Middleware DPK, the generated PT-MW-DPK zip file includes:

  • cpu_archives directory

This directory includes subdirectories with CPUs for the components that you specify when running the script. The possible archives are:

    • jdk_patches directory

    • oracleclient_opatch_patches directory

    • oracleclient_patches directory

    • tuxedo_opatch_patches directory

    • tuxedo_patches directory

    • weblogic_patches directory

  • psft_patches.yaml — This file includes detailed patch information for the selected components.

  • ptmw-manifest — This file lists the included software versions with the latest CPU patch number(s), along with the PeopleTools major and patch release versions.

  • readme — This text file includes installation instructions.
