Move Selected Steps to Another Plan Group

You can consolidate plan steps from one or more built-in plan groups to another built-in or user-defined plan group.

Note:

When reorganizing steps into other plan groups, you are responsible for maintaining proper recovery dependencies. Do not place steps in the same plan group if one step depends on another step completing first. Steps within the same group execute in parallel, which will cause recovery failures if dependent resources start simultaneously.

Always ensure that prerequisite steps are placed in plan groups that execute before any steps that depend on them.

  1. Navigate to the DR protection group with the standby role.
  2. Click Plans to list the DR plans for the DR protection group.
  3. Select the DR Plan that you want to change.
  4. Click Plan groups to display the sequential list of plan groups.
  5. Select Reorder groups and steps.
  6. Select and expand any existing plan group containing the step(s) you want to move.
  7. Select the three-dots Action menu on right side of the step you want to move, then click on Move step to group. The Move step to group page gets displayed.
  8. Use the Move step to group page to move one or more steps:

    2. Click on Update to move the step to the target plan group:
      • This will move the step to the target plan group and change the Modification state of the individual step to Moved.
      • You can expand the target plan group to show the modified step. At that point you can click Revert changes to move the step back to the source plan group or click Move step to group to move the step to yet another group if you have made an error. You can move the step multiple times.
    3. Continue this process until you have moved all the steps you wish to move. All the proposed changes are temporary until you Publish changes in the last step.
  9. Click on Update to see a summary of all the changes which includes the number of moved steps between the groups.
  10. Choose an action after reviewing the summary:
    • Click Cancel to return you to the editor. All the proposed changes are still in place. You can choose to modify steps further or click Cancel to discard all the proposed changes and exit the step editor.
    • Click Publish changes to accept and save all the proposed changes which includes the number of moved steps between the groups.
