Export and Import a CSV File Containing Synonyms and AI Descriptions for Data Model Columns

Administrators can export a data model configuration to a CSV file, then import an updated file containing new or modified synonyms and AI Descriptions for data model columns.

Business users and subject-matter experts can update the exported CSV file with synonyms and AI Descriptions. After an administrator imports the updated file, Oracle Analytics applies the changes to the data model. Synonyms help users and Oracle Analytics AI Assistants identify columns, and AI Descriptions provide business context that helps the Assistant interpret column values correctly.

Administrators can import updates from partial CSV files instead of sharing one CSV file with multiple contributors, create and distribute separate files that contain only the columns assigned to each contributor. An administrator can import each completed file after the contributor finishes the updates.

If more than one user updates synonyms or AI Descriptions for the same column, the most recently imported file overwrites the earlier changes for that column.

Indexing starts automatically after you import the file. The updated indexing metadata, synonyms, and AI Descriptions are available for home page search and Oracle Analytics AI Assistant after indexing completes.

You can also use the CSV import and export process to migrate AI-ready data model metadata, including synonyms and AI Descriptions, between environments.

  1. On your home page, click Navigator Navigator icon used to display the Navigator, then click Console.
  2. Under Configuration and Settings, click Search Index.
  3. To export the data model index configuration in a CSV file:
    1. On the Data Model tab, select the data model you want to export as a CSV file. Selecting the data model activates the Import and Export buttons.
    2. Click Export to create the CSV file and download it to your computer.
  4. To import an updated CSV file containing new or updated synonyms:
    1. In the Data Model tab, click the data model you want to update. Clicking the model activates the Import and Export buttons.
    2. Click Import.
    3. In the Upload Crawl Config dialog, browse to and select the CSV file to import.
    4. Click OK.
    Oracle Analytics imports the updated configuration file and starts indexing automatically.
