About Generative AI Models and AIDP Units

Oracle Analytics Cloud supports multiple generative AI models that you can register and assign to Oracle Analytics AI Assistant features. Because different AI models use different pricing models and consume different types of resources, Oracle Analytics Cloud measures AI usage in AIDP Units rather than reporting model-specific token usage.

An AIDP Unit is the standardized unit of measurement used to track and bill AI consumption. Oracle Analytics Cloud converts the resources consumed by each supported generative AI model into AIDP Units, providing a consistent way to monitor usage and cost across different models. For example, different models can have different costs for input tokens, output tokens, cached tokens, or other AI processing. Rather than exposing these model-specific costs, Oracle Analytics Cloud converts usage into AIDP Units so that administrators can more easily compare usage, configure alerts, and monitor consumption across AI Assistant features.

AIDP Unit consumption is displayed for registered generative AI models and AI Assistant features. Actual AIDP Unit consumption varies depending on the model used and the requests processed.

Each supported generative AI model has its own resource consumption characteristics. Oracle Analytics Cloud uses model-specific conversion rates to translate AI usage into AIDP Units. This approach provides a common unit of measurement regardless of which model processes a request.

For example, if two AI Assistant features use different generative AI models, the number of AIDP Units consumed for similar requests can differ because the underlying models have different conversion rates. Administrators can use the Approximate Relative Cost column on the Generative AI page to compare the relative cost of registered models when deciding which model to assign to each AI Assistant feature.
