About Deploying Semantic Models

Deploy one or more semantic models to make them available as subject areas for your users.

By default you can deploy one semantic model. But if your administrator sets up additional resource groups, you can deploy multiple semantic models.

Your administrator can configure up to three resource groups. Each resource group supports one deployed semantic model. When multiple resource groups are configured, you can deploy one semantic model per up resource group and up to three semantic models (one per resource group).

Deploying multiple semantic models can be beneficial in several scenarios. For example, you might want to reuse and leverage an existing semantic model from another Oracle Analytics environment, isolate workloads across departments (such as finance and sales), or optimize performance for different user groups. Multiple models can also help you manage complex data domains more effectively, improve governance by limiting access to specific datasets, and reduce contention by distributing queries across dedicated resources.

Users see a deployed semantic model as subject areas that they query from workbooks, dashboards, and analyses. The Oracle Analytics query engine uses the semantic model's metadata to write physical queries against the data source and to transform and combine the physical result set and perform final calculations.

If the subject areas don't display or aren't updated after you successfully deployed the semantic model, then log out and log back into Oracle Analytics. In some cases, an Administrator may need to go to the Console, click Sessions and Query Logs, and then click the Reload Files and Metadata link to reload the subject areas.
