Set Semantic Model Object Permissions in Bulk

Use bulk update to add, remove, or replace the application role permissions for several semantic model objects at the same time. Use bulk update to save time and ensure that your objects contain the required permissions.

You use Search to find and select the objects that you want to add, remove, or replace application role permissions for. Your search results might contain items that don't use permissions, for example physical or logical tables.
After you run the bulk update, Semantic Modeler displays a status dialog with this information:
  • The number of objects it updated successfully.
  • The number of and list of objects it couldn't update because the objects don't use permissions.
  • The number of objects it failed to update.
  1. On your home page, click Navigator Navigator icon and then click Semantic Models.
  2. In the Semantic Models page, click a semantic model to open it.
  3. In the toolbar, click Search Search icon.
  4. In the Search tab, search for the objects that you want to update permissions for:
    1. Click the Search field and from the objects drop-down list, locate and click an object type that you want to update permissions for.
    2. In the objects drop-down list, click to add more object types to the search results.
  5. In the search results, click to select the objects that you want to update permissions for. You must click one or more objects to enable the Bulk edit permissions icon.
  6. In the Search tab, click Bulk edit permissions Bulk edit permissions icon .
  7. In Bulk Permission Edit, go to the Add field and type the name of an application role, or type an asterisks * to see a list of all application roles.
  8. From the list, click an application role to select it, and then specify the permission you want to grant to the role for the selected objects.
  9. Click Remove existing permissions if you want to replace the selected objects' permissions with the permissions you specified.
    Or, if you don't specify new any new permissions, you can click Remove existing permissions to remove all permissions from the selected objects.
  10. Click Apply.
