Set Semantic Model Object Tags in Bulk

Use bulk update to add, remove, or replace the same tag values for several semantic model objects at the same time. Use bulk update to save time and ensure that your objects contain consistent tags.

You use Search to find and select the objects that you want to add, remove, or replace tags for. Your search results might contain items that don't use tags, for example physical or logical table joins.
After you run the bulk update, Semantic Modeler displays a status dialog with this information:
  • The number of objects it updated successfully.
  • The number of and list of objects it couldn't update because the objects don't use tags.
  • The number of objects it failed to update.

Use these fields to specify your tag updates:

  • Add Tags - Specifies the tag name or names that you want to add to the selected objects.
  • Remove Tags - Specifies the tag name or names that you want to remove from the selected objects.
  • Remove existing tags - Removes all existing tags from the selected objects. You can specify tag names in the Add Tags field and then select this option to remove existing tags and replace them with the tags you specified to add.
  1. On your home page, click Navigator Navigator icon and then click Semantic Models.
  2. In the Semantic Models page, click a semantic model to open it.
  3. In the toolbar, click Search Search icon.
  4. In the Search tab, search for the objects and tags that you want to update:
    1. Click the Search field and from the objects drop-down list, locate and click an object type that you want to update tag values for.
    2. In the drop-down list, click to select more object types to add to the search results.
    3. After you select the object types, click the white space in the Search toolbar and from the Properties drop-down list, select Tags, specify your search criteria, and press Enter.
  5. In the search results, click to select the objects that you want to update tags for. You must click one or more objects to enable the Bulk edit tags icon.
  6. In the Search tab, click Bulk edit tags Bulk edit tags icon.
  7. In Bulk Tag Edit, specify how you want to update tags for the selected objects. After you type a tag name in the Add Tags or Remove Tags field, press Enter.
  8. Click Apply.
