Add AI Descriptions to a Dataset

Add AI Descriptions to provide Oracle Analytics AI Assistant with the business context it needs to interpret your dataset and its columns accurately.

AI Descriptions explain details that column names and synonyms alone can’t convey, such as a measure’s unit, a value format, or an aggregation rule. Use them to document business information that affects how the Assistant selects columns, applies filters, or interprets results. 1. On your home page, or Data page, select a dataset.
2. Hover over a dataset, click Actions, then Inspect.
3. Click the Search tab.
4. Click the AI Descriptions tab.
5. Update the dataset's description.
   • To manually update the dataset's description, click the Dataset description text box and enter a specific description that states the dataset's business context and purpose.
   • To use AI to generate the dataset's description, click the Generate all menu and select Dataset description.
6. Update attribute descriptions:
   • To manually update an attribute's description, click its description and enter a description. For the best results, avoid repeating the column name or using an alternate name.
   • To use AI to generate descriptions for all (empty and existing) of the dataset's descriptions, click the Generate all menu and select All attributes (overwrite existing).
   • To use AI to generate descriptions for the dataset's empty descriptions only, click the Generate all menu and select Only empty attributes.
7. Optional: Click Run Now to index your dataset immediately.
8. Click Save.
