Index a Dataset

You must index a dataset to make its data attributes available to Oracle Analytics AI Assistant within workbooks or from your home page. You can index all or some of the dataset's attributes and apply synonyms to make the attributes easier to search.

You can create a schedule to specify when and how often you want a dataset to be indexed. See Schedule Indexing on a Dataset.
  1. On your home page, or Data page, select a dataset.
  2. Hover over a dataset, click Actions, then Inspect.
  3. Click the Search tab.
  4. On the Settings tab, click the Index Dataset For dropdown and select an option.
  5. Click the Languages field and select the language you want to use to produce the dataset's index.
  6. Set the Indexing schedule. See Schedule Indexing on a Dataset.
  7. Click Save.
  8. Click Run Now to index your dataset immediately.
  9. Click Check Now to find out when the last index run occurred.
  10. Click Scope. Select an option for indexing the data elements.
    • Click the Index column for each attribute you want to index.
    • Click the Sensitive Data checkbox to restrict visibility to authorized users and their permissible data.
    • Choose the Index Type. Select Name to index metadata for all attributes. Select Name and values to index metadata and data for all attributes.
    • Add synonyms as needed to the column level. For example, you might refer to a column for Headcount also as Employee Count, Employees, Workforce Size, Person Count, etc. Adding familiar synonyms improves results.
  11. Optional: Select Use Recommended Index Settings to let the system determine your index settings.
