Add an Outline to Points and Shapes on a Map

You can add an outline to highlight the boundaries of points and shapes on a map visualization.

An outline highlights the boundaries of points and shapes so that users can quickly identify the visual information presented on a map.

Use the Outline property to configure the outlines. This property is only available on maps that use the Point layer type.
  • None: Hides outlines.
  • Auto: Automatically applies outline formatting.
  • Custom: Lets you specify an outline color and width.
  1. On your home page, hover over a workbook, click Actions, and select Open.
  2. Click the map visualization to select it.
  3. Click Properties, then click Layers Layers property tab icon.
  4. Expand a map layer.
  5. In the Outline row, click Auto and select Custom.
  6. Click the Outline Color field to select a color.
  7. In Outline Width, use the up arrow to increase the width and the down arrow to decrease the width.
  8. Click Save.
