Copy a Shared Data Action

Create a data action based on a shared data action so you can use it in your workbook as an unshared action.

Instead of recreating the shared data action from scratch, you can make a copy of it in the Actions pane outside of the Shared Actions folder. This way, you can use and modify it without impacting any other workbooks.

You can also disable the original shared data action if you don’t want it to apply to your workbook anymore, see Disable a Shared Data Action.

You can't unshare a data action once it's in the Shared Actions folder. If you delete it, it's deleted from all workbooks that might be using it.

If you want to make a copy of the shared data action within the Shared Actions folder, use the Duplicate Action option.

  1. On your home page, hover over a workbook, click Actions, and select Open.
  2. In the Actions pane, expand the Shared Actions folder.
  3. Right-click the data action you want to use and click Copy Action.
  4. Right-click in the Actions pane and click Paste Action.
The copy of the data action displays above the Shared Actions folder, as an unshared action.
  5. Click Save.
