Review Location Matches for a Map
You can review location matches for each layer in a map visualization to identify values that are unmatched, partially matched, or matched to multiple possible locations.
Oracle Analytics automatically attempts to match location-based data to the appropriate map layer. For example, city values might be matched to a city layer and country values to a country layer. If the data is ambiguous or incomplete, some values might not match correctly.
You can improve match accuracy by adding more location detail to the visualization. For example, use both City and Country in Category (Location) instead of City alone when City names might exist in multiple countries.
The Location Matches dialog displays match information for each layer in the map visualization.
-
No Match: The value couldn’t be matched to a location.
-
Match with issue: The value was matched, but the result might be ambiguous or incomplete.
-
Perfect Match: The value was matched successfully with no issues.
-
Valid or Invalid: Used for latitude and longitude matches.
-
All Data: Displays all matches.
-
Good Matches: Displays only perfect matches.
-
All Issues: Displays partial matches, multiple matches, and no matches.
-
Partial Matches: Displays values that partially match a location name. For example, part of a string is exactly right, such as Paulo versus Sao Paulo. Most of a word is exactly right, such as Caiyro versus Cairo.
-
Multiple Matches: Displays values that match more than one possible location. For example, you may see Barcelona, Spain matching with Barcelona, Argentina. In this case you might want to revisit the data to add more detail to your GEO columns to ensure that you only match the correct locations.
