Phase 3: Upgrade to Oracle Integration 3

Perform the following tasks to upgrade to Oracle Integration 3:
  1. Prepare for Upgrade
  2. Complete Post-Upgrade Tasks for OCI Process Automation

Prepare for Upgrade

Perform the following tasks to prepare for upgrade:
  1. Your instance must pass all prechecks before upgrade, including the Process Automation precheck.

The Process Automation precheck verifies that your instance doesn't have any active process instances. Verify that your instance passed the Process Automation precheck on the Upgrade page in your Oracle Integration Generation 2 instance.

After all runtime transactions are completed on your Oracle Integration Generation 2 instance and you've fully transitioned to OCI Process Automation, upgrade precheck may still show your instance as blocked. This is because Oracle allows an additional grace period of 30 days to ensure you have an opportunity to save and export your data from Oracle Integration Generation 2 Process.

To mark your instance as eligible before this grace period ends:

    1. Deactivate all your Process applications.
    2. Schedule an archive and purge of process applications to get rid of completed and stale structured process instances. Set Purge Retention (Days) to 0.

    Note:

You can see the details of these running instances by clicking My Tasks, then choosing Processes in your Oracle Integration Generation 2 instance. To see a full list of instances, ensure that you're signed in with a user who has the Service Administrator role.

When your instance has passed all prechecks, Oracle sends you an email with your scheduled upgrade window. See View Your Upgrade Window.

  2. Complete any other preparations you haven't already done. See Prepare for the Upgrade to Oracle Integration 3.
  3. Optionally, save runtime data from Oracle Integration Generation 2 Process. You must do this before upgrade. See Archiving and Purging Process Automation Data in Oracle Integration.

As part of these steps, you'll configure the Oracle Storage Service and schedule instances for archive and purge. Be aware of the following points:

    • The archived information will be available in the configured Object Storage bucket. Oracle recommends you use the Oracle Integration Generation 2 Process REST API to retrieve these archive files.
    • Attachments aren't included in the archive files. You must export these manually. See Retrieve a Process Attachment as a Stream in REST API for Oracle Integration 2.

Complete Post-Upgrade Tasks for OCI Process Automation

The only thing you need to do to complete your migration to Process Automation in Oracle Integration 3 in clean up legacy client code.

You don't need to complete the post-upgrade tasks for Process Automation as those are for a different upgrade path.

You don't even need to update your service registration in OCI Process Automation. Your existing service registration will continue to work for your upgraded Oracle Integration 3 instance, ensuring continued connectivity to integrations that you're already calling from your process applications.

Clean Up Legacy Client Code

If you still have integrations or Visual Builder applications that were used to communicate to Oracle Integration Generation 2, use this opportunity to clean them up.
