Generate a QR Code for a PWA-Enabled App

Generate a QR code for your PWA-enabled application using Google Chrome's native capabilities. Users can scan the QR code to quickly open and install the app on a device for testing as well as for production. To generate a QR code for your PWA-enabled app, you stage and publish your app.

  • Follow these steps to stage a PWA-enabled application:
    1. Open your PWA-enabled application.
    2. Click Menu in the upper right corner and select Stage.
    3. In the Stage Application dialog, select the appropriate option for your business object data, then click Stage. See Stage a Visual Application for details.

    4. When you're notified that the application has been staged, click Menu again and select Open Staged Application.
      When the app opens in a new tab, use the options in your browser to install the app:
  • Follow these steps to publish your staged PWA-enabled application and make it live:
    1. Open your PWA-enabled application.
    2. Select Publish from the application’s Menu option in the upper right corner.
    3. In the Publish Application dialog, specify what to do with your business object data, then click Publish. See Publish a Visual Application for details.

    4. To view the published app, go to the Visual Applications home page and locate your application. Click Live in the Status column, then select your application.

      When the published app opens in a new browser tab, share the application URL with your users, who can now install the app or generate a QR code the same way as when the app was staged.
