1 What's New in Oracle Data Studio

This section highlights new features and enhancements in Oracle Data Studio.

Data Studio Release

Data Studio provides a unified workspace for working with databases, data assets, and AI-enabled workflows.

• Unified home page and access

  Open Data Studio and explore available capabilities before selecting a database. Select or connect to a database when the task that you want to perform requires one. See Access and Navigate Data Studio.

• Catalog Navigator

  Use the new Catalog Navigator to browse database and cloud-storage assets, inspect their details, and continue directly to available data workflows. See Catalog Navigator.

• Unified database and connection management

  Browse, create, connect to, and manage databases from Data Studio. You can also connect to a database instance by using a Database Actions URL when required. See Work with Database Connections and Resources.

• Expanded cloud-source access

  Use data-load and data-link workflows with cloud object stores such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Object Storage, Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, and Google Cloud Storage. See Load, Link, and Feed Data.

• AI Data Catalog enhancements

  Create or connect to an AI Data Catalog and use governance controls to manage access to catalog objects. See Create and Connect to AI Data Catalog.

• AI Assistant

  Use AI Assistant in Data Studio for contextual guidance, guided workflow preparation, and natural-language SQL generation after the required setup is complete. See Use AI Assistant.

• Access diagnostics for AI workflows

  Use OCI Permissions to identify whether the connected database or your signed-in identity lacks the Oracle Cloud access required for AI workflows. See Prepare to Use Data Studio.
