Check Patch Prerequisites

You can use the Oracle Big Data Cloud Patching page to check the prerequisites of a patch before you apply it and make sure the patch can be successfully applied.

The checking operation:

  • Confirms the patch is available for download.

  • Verifies there’s enough space in the /u01 directory to apply the patch.

  • Ensures the cluster is healthy and able to have the patch applied.

To check patch prerequisites:
  1. Open the service console. See Access the Service Console for Big Data Cloud.
  2. Click the name of the cluster to which you want to apply a patch.

The Big Data Cloud Overview page is displayed.

  3. Click the Administration tile and then click the Patching tab.

The Big Data Cloud Patching page is displayed. A list of patches you can apply appears in the Available Patches section.

  4. In the entry for the patch whose prerequisites you want to check, click the Menu icon menu and then select Precheck.

If you’ve previously checked prerequisites on the selected patch, the Patch Precheck Results window displays, showing the results of the previous check and asking you to perform another set of prerequisite checks. In this case, click Precheck to continue.

The Patching page redisplays, showing a status message indicating prerequisite checks are in progress.

  5. Click the Refresh icon refresh icon on the Patching page occasionally to update the status message. The checking operation can take several minutes to complete.
  6. When the checking operation completes, click the Precheck summary link to display the results of the prerequisite checks.
