Create Sensitive Data Models
You can create sensitive data models by discovering sensitive data in Data Discovery or by creating an empty sensitive data model and manually adding columns of interest.
Create a Sensitive Data Model Through Data Discovery
- Under Data Safe - Database Security, select Data discovery.
- Select Discover sensitive data.
- Provide Sensitive data model information:
- Enter a Name for the sensitive data model or leave the default name as is.
- Select a compartment in which to store your sensitive data model.
- (Optional) Enter a description for your sensitive data model.
- Select a database compartment from the drop-down list.
- Select a target database.
- (Optional) Select Add tag to organize your resources. Select a Namespace from the drop-down list. Select or enter a Key. Select or enter a Value. Select Next.
- For Select specific schemas only, select the schemas that you want Data Discovery to search, and then select Next. Only non-Oracle maintained schemas are displayed and are selectable.
- (Optional) If the schemas on the target database have been updated since the stated time and date, select Refresh database schemas.
- To select all the schemas at once, select All schemas.
- At the bottom left, select the left and right arrow buttons to navigate the pages if the schemas exceed 25 items.
- (Optional) For Select tables for selected schemas, select tables for selected schemas from the target database. If selected, discovery will be run only on selected tables of the schema. Alternatively, you can skip this step and proceed to the next if you want all tables for the selected schemas to be scanned.
- To search, enter a table name, then select Search.
- To filter, select either Schema name or Tables for schema and enter the corresponding item. Then select Apply filter.
- For Select sensitive types, select the categories of sensitive types and/or the individual sensitive types that you want to use to discover sensitive data, and then select Next.
- The drop-down to Select from sensitive type group has three options: Common sensitive types, All sensitive types, or My custom sensitive type group.
- Select Common sensitive types to discover from the 21 most popular sensitive types in the Common sensitive types group created by Oracle.
- Select All sensitive types to discover from all categories and sensitive types. To view sensitive types within a sensitive category, expand individual check boxes.
- Select My custom sensitive type group to discover from the sensitive types in any of your sensitive type groups. By limiting the selection of sensitive types that are likely to be present within your target database, you decrease the time that it will take to create a sensitive date model.
- For Select discovery options, do the following:
- (Optional) To collect sample data values from the target database, select Collect, display and store sample data. The collected data is automatically deleted when you delete the sensitive data model. Alternatively, you can delete the collected data for individual sensitive columns or for all columns at once, after the sensitive data model is created.
- (Optional) Select Discover application level (non-dictionary) referential relationships. This option uses column name and data patterns from the selected sensitive types. The discovered relationships can span across schemas, including those not selected on the Select Schemas page.
Note:
See Discovery through Non-Dictionary Referential Relationships for more information. - Select Create sensitive data model.
- The Sensitive data model details page is displayed. When the data discovery job is completed successfully, a status of Active is displayed and details about the sensitive data model are displayed.
- On the Details tab, review the General information as well as Sensitive data information and Sensitive data counts to identify which sensitive types and sensitive categories have the most sensitive data.
- On the Sensitive columns tab, review the sensitive columns. On this tab you can Add columns, Remove columns, and View/Add previously removed columns.
- To filter the list of sensitive columns, select values in the schema name, table name, column name, sensitive type, parent column, and data type drop-downs. Enter a corresponding value. Select Apply filter.
- On the Incremental discovery tab, review the applicable discovery results. On this tab you can Manage results and Run discovery now.
- On the Referential relationships tab, review referential relationships or add new ones.
- On the History of incremental discoveries tab, review the history.
- On the Work requests tab, review the most recent work requests.
- On the Tags tab, review or add tags.
Create a Sensitive Data Model Manually
- Under Data Safe - Database Security, select Data discovery.
- Select Create sensitive data model manually.
- Select a Namespace from the drop-down list.
- Select or enter a Key.
- Select or enter a Value.
- Select Create sensitive data model manually.
The Sensitive data model details page is displayed. When the data discovery job is completed successfully, a status of Active is displayed and details about the sensitive data model are displayed.
- To manually add columns to the sensitive data model, do the following:
- Select the Sensitive columns tab.
- Under the Search and Filter search-bar, select the Actions drop-down list.
- Select Add columns. The Add columns window is displayed.
- (Optional) If the schemas on the target database have been updated since the stated time and date, click Refresh database schemas.
- Find sensitive columns by entering or selecting one or more of the following items, and then click Search: Schema name, Table name, and Column name. A list of sensitive columns that match your selection criteria are displayed.
- Add the sensitive type for each column by selecting a sensitive type from the drop-down list.
- Select the columns that you want to add to your sensitive data model, and then click Add columns.
To select all the columns, select the All columns radio button. To select all columns on the current page, select the check box next to the Schema column heading.
