7Geese

Before You Begin

Introduction

This document describes how to configure Oracle Identity Cloud Service to provide Single Sign-On (SSO) for 7Geese using SAML.

About 7Geese

7Geese is a goal tracking and employee performance management platform.

After integrating 7Geese with Oracle Identity Cloud Service:

  • Users can access 7Geese using their Oracle Identity Cloud Service login credentials.
  • Users can start 7Geese using the Oracle Identity Cloud Service My Apps console.
  • Admins can assign and revoke user access to the 7Geese app using the Oracle Identity Cloud Service administration console.

What Do You Need?

  • An Oracle Identity Cloud Service account with authorization rights to manage apps and users (Identity Domain Administrator or Application Administrator).
  • A 7Geese account with authorization rights to configure federated authentication.
  • Make sure that the email ID of each user in 7Geese matches the primary email ID of the Oracle Identity Cloud Service account.

Configuring the 7Geese App in Oracle Identity Cloud Service

Use this section to register and activate the 7Geese app, and then assign users to the app.

Prerequisite Steps

A Sign In ID is required before you can register and activate the 7Geese app. You obtain that Sign In ID from 7Geese.

  1. Access 7Geese as an administrator using the URL: https://app.7geese.com. The 7Geese home page appears.

  2. Select Org Settings.

  3. Click Integrations, and then click Configure in the Single Sign On (SSO) through a SAML Identity Provider section.

The Sign In ID appears in the Issuer URL: https://app.7geese.com/saml12/metadata/<Sign_In_ID>/.

Registering and Activating the 7Geese App

  1. Access the Oracle Identity Cloud Service administration console, select Applications, and then click Add.

  2. Click App Catalog.

  3. Search for 7Geese, and then click Add.

  4. In the App Details section, enter your 7Geese Sign In ID, and then click Next.

Note: This is the Sign In ID that you obtained while performing the steps in the "Prerequisite Steps" section.

  5. Click Download Identity Provider Metadata.

Tip: Use this file later during the 7Geese configuration in the "Configuring SSO for 7Geese" section.

  6. Click Download Signing Certificate.

7Geese expects the certificate file to have a line break after column 64. However, certificate downloaded from IDCS doesn't have a line break after column 64.

  7. Use Linux/Unix fold -w 64 -s Certificate_filename.pem > Folded-Cert_filename.pem command to insert line break after column 64.

Tip: Use this updated certificate file later during the 7Geese configuration in the "Configuring SSO for 7Geese" section.

  8. Click Finish. Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays a confirmation message.

  9. Click Activate, and then click Activate Application. Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays a confirmation message.

Assigning Users to the 7Geese App

  1. On the 7Geese app page in Oracle Identity Cloud Service, select Users, and then click Assign. The Assign Users window appears.

  2. Select users that you want to assign to 7Geese, and then click OK. Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays a confirmation message stating that the 7Geese app is assigned to the users that you selected.

Configuring SSO for 7Geese

  1. Access 7Geese as an administrator using the URL: https://app.7geese.com. The 7Geese home page appears.

  2. Select Org Settings.

  3. Click Integrations, and then click Configure in the Single Sign On (SSO) through a SAML Identity Provider section.

  4. In the Provider Settings section, use the table to update the federated authentication attributes, and then click Save settings.

This table lists the mandatory federated authentication attributes that you must set to complete the SSO configuration.
    Attribute Settings
ISSUER Enter the Entity ID/Issuer URL. Use the metadata file that you downloaded earlier to obtain the Entity ID/Issuer URL. The Entity ID/Issuer URL information is located in the first line of the metadata. See the "Registering and Activating the 7Geese App" section.
METADATA URL Enter the Metadata URL: https://<IDCS-Service-Instance>.idcs.internal.oracle.com/fed/v1/metadata.
SSO URL Enter the SSO URL: https://<IDCS-Service-Instance>.idcs.internal.oracle.com/fed/v1/idp/sso.
    SLO URL Keep it blank.
X.509 CERTIFICATE Paste the certificate that you updated while performing the steps in the "Registering and Activating the 7Geese App" section. See the "Registering and Activating the 7Geese App" section.
  5. Click Enable to enable SSO.

Verifying the Integration

Use this section to verify that SSO works when initiated from Oracle Identity Cloud Service (IdP Initiated SSO) or from 7Geese (SP Initiated SSO).

Verifying Identity Provider Initiated SSO from Oracle Identity Cloud Service

  1. Access the Oracle Identity Cloud Service My Profile console using the URL: https://<IDCS-Service-Instance>.identity.oraclecloud.com/ui/v1/myconsole.

  2. Log in using credentials for a user that is assigned to the 7Geese app. Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays a shortcut to 7Geese under My Apps.

  3. Click 7Geese. The 7Geese home page appears.

  4. In the upper-right corner, click the user drop-down list, and then confirm that the user that is logged in is the same for both 7Geese and Oracle Identity Cloud Service.

This confirms that SSO that is initiated from Oracle Identity Cloud Service works.

Verifying Service Provider Initiated SSO from 7Geese

  1. Access 7Geese using the URL: https://app.7geese.com/login/, and then click Your Company's Identity Provider.

  2. Enter your email address, and then click Next. You are redirected to the Oracle Identity Cloud Service login page.

  3. Log in using credentials for a user that is assigned to the 7Geese app. The 7Geese home page appears.

  4. Confirm that the user that is logged in is the same for both 7Geese and Oracle Identity Cloud Service.

This confirms that SSO that is initiated from 7Geese works.

Troubleshooting

Use this section to locate solutions to common integration issues.

Known Issues

7Geese displays the message, “Sorry we seem to have led you astray."

Cause: The email attribute sent by Oracle Identity Cloud Service during SSO doesn't match any existing user in 7Geese.

Solution: Ensure that the user that you assign to the 7Geese app has an account in both Oracle Identity Cloud Service and 7Geese with the same email address.

Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays the message, “You are not authorized to access the app. Contact your system administrator." or “There is a problem with your account. Please contact Support."

Cause: The SAML 2.0 integration between the Oracle Identity Cloud Service 7Geese app and 7Geese is deactivated.

Solution:

  • Access the Oracle Identity Cloud Service administration console, select Applications, and then select 7Geese.
  • In the App Details section, click Activate, and then click Activate Application. Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays a confirmation message.
Oracle Identity Cloud Service displays the message, “You are not authorized to access the app. Contact your system administrator."

Cause: The administrator revokes access for the user at the same time that the user tries to access the 7Geese app using Oracle Identity Cloud Service.

Solution:

  • Access the Oracle Identity Cloud Service administration console, select Applications, and then select 7Geese.
  • In the App Details section, select Users, and then click Assign to re-assign the user.
