What is Oracle Cloud Platform for Oracle SaaS?

Oracle Cloud Platform for Oracle SaaS is a collection of Oracle Cloud Platform (PaaS) services that you can use to:

  • Connect your SaaS applications to on-premises applications, third-party applications, data, and processes.

  • Extend your SaaS applications by building new applications and experiences to support your unique business models.

  • Secure your SaaS applications by continuously monitoring them to detect and remediate unauthorized access and malicious insider activity.

  • Analyze, correlate, and contextualize your data using external data.

Standard or Enterprise?

Oracle Cloud Platform for Oracle SaaS comes in standard and enterprise editions. The main difference between these editions is the services they include.

The standard edition includes the following autonomous services:

  • Oracle Visual Builder, Enterprise: a loud-based, low-code application development solution to create, extend, and customize business applications.

  • Oracle Mobile Cloud Service, Standard: a platform to build mobile and web applications.

  • Oracle Developer Cloud Service: a cloud-based software development Platform as a Service (PaaS) and a hosted environment for your application development infrastructure.

  • Oracle Identity Cloud Service: a cloud-based service that provides basic identity management functionality to support the components included in Oracle Cloud Platform for Oracle SaaS.

Additionally, the enterprise edition also includes the following services:

  • Oracle Integration, Enterprise: A cloud based integration and process automation platform.

  • Oracle Data Integration Platform Cloud, Standard: a service to perform bulk data movement, run ELT transformations, push down data processing, and perform basic profiling of your data sources.

  • Oracle Analytics Cloud, Standard: A cloud based offering that provides data visualization, data preparation, and collaboration.

Get Started with Oracle Cloud Platform for Oracle SaaS

After you acquire Oracle Cloud Platform for Oracle SaaS, you must activate your Oracle My Services account to start using and managing your PaaS services.

Use Oracle My Services to:

  • Monitor your entitlements and usage.

  • Manage your service accounts.

  • Activate your services.

  • Manage your administration accounts.

All the services included in Oracle Cloud Platform for Oracle SaaS are non-metered. Non-metered services include a predefined number of resources for a fixed annual subscription fee. If you exceed your subscription capacity, you will receive a notification. If you receive this notification, contact Oracle Support.

Activate Your Cloud Account

Activate your cloud account to start using Oracle Cloud Platform for Oracle SaaS. After you activate your Cloud account, you will be able to access Oracle Cloud My Services to monitor your services.

  1. Open the email you got from Sales after requesting your cloud products.
  2. Click the Activate My Services button.
    The Activation screen appears in your web browser.
  3. In the Account Details section, enter the following data:
    • A name to identify your cloud account.
    • The email address where you received the welcome email.
  4. From the Default Data Region list, select North America.
  5. In the Administrator Details section, enter the following data:
    • Your first name.
    • Your last name.
    The Email and User Name fields will automatically complete when you click the First Name field.
  6. Click Create Account.
    You will get a confirmation email when your My Services account is activated. The activation process may take up to an hour.
  7. Click the Access My Services button in the confirmation email.
  8. Log in to My Services using the temporary credentials included in the confirmation email and change your password.

View Your Cloud Entitlements

View the total capacity assigned to your services, and your current usage.

  1. Log in to Oracle Cloud My Services.
    The email you get after activating your Oracle Cloud Account includes the URL to Oracle Cloud My Services.
  2. Click the Usage tab.
  3. From the main list, select PaaS for SaaS.
  4. In the Usage Summary section, expand a service to view its total capacity and current usage.
    The Resource Column shows the units used to measure capacity and usage. For example: GB of processed data per hour.

How to Provision the Available PaaS Services

You may already have some of these PaaS services but you may need to provision some of them.

What Are the Usage Limits for the Available PaaS Services?

The available PaaS services are limited editions and have the following limits:

Oracle Visual Builder, Enterprise

Users may create and publish hosted web applications that work on mobile devices and web browsers. They can develop user interfaces, business objects, and business logic.

Authenticated users may be granted a role authorizing access to development tools and may develop and publish any number of applications.

Any number of authenticated and unauthenticated users may access a published application.

Any number of API calls may be made to published APIs provided by this or by published applications.

Service performance may be affected by the number of users, by the number of API calls, and by the service configuration, such as the number of OCPUs.

Application developers can create and host applications and the custom data needed for those applications. You are responsible for the content of these applications and data.

Provides up to 5 GB of storage for applications and data.

Application developers may upload static resources (including, but not limited to images, JavaScript files, CSS files, and HTML files). These static resources are not executed on Oracle’s servers.

Application developers may create applications that consume REST services exposed by other non-Oracle cloud services (including products subject to different hosting and delivery policies and terms of service). You are responsible for ensuring that your use of these non-Oracle cloud services complies with the policies and terms that govern the use of these services.

Oracle Mobile Cloud Service, Standard

Provides up to 50 GB of storage for applications and data. Users can access core mobile services such as push notifications, storage, offline data, and synchronization.

Oracle Developer Cloud Service

The usage of this service is subject to the following quantity limitations:

  • 1 Developer Cloud Service instance per Cloud Services Account

  • 20 GB of cumulative storage

The following limitations apply to running development builds:

  • 1 OCPUs

  • 50 GB of block storage

  • 200 GB of object storage

  • This excludes commercial and production use.

Oracle Identity Cloud Service

Includes user management, group management, and basic reporting.

It also provides Oracle-certified templates to provision accounts, and to perform federated single sign-on (SSO) across Oracle PaaS and Oracle SaaS applications.

Oracle Integration, Enterprise

Provides high availability for all services instances along with underlying infrastructure components needed to run the service. This includes databases and storage.

It also includes the following features:

  • Oracle Integration Standard features

    • SaaS Integration Adapters

    • Technology Adapters

    • Business Object Modeler

    • Visual Builder Cloud Service

    • Scheduled File Transfer

  • On-premises Enterprise Application Adapters

  • Process Automation

  • Self-Service Integration Cloud Service

Oracle Data Integration Platform Cloud, Standard

The usage limits are:

  • Incoming or outgoing messsages via all protocols except file (file, sftp, ftps, or attachments) are limited to 10 MB in size.

  • Files or attachments over 1MB and upto 1 GB in size that are being processed are temporarily stored in the Oracle Integration Cloud Instance. This storage is limited to 10 GB at any point in time. Individual file or attachment size limitations are clearly visible in the product design time user interface, and are subject to change as the product evolves.

  • Instance information regarding processed messages or message traces is retained in the database for up to 3 days.

  • Usage of Technology Adapters and On-Premise Enterprise Application Adapters is not permitted as part of this offering.

Oracle Analytics Cloud, Standard

May be used for data warehouses, data integration and migrations projects.

Users have access to the following features:

  • Base Data Integration Platform Cloud Home page

  • Basic profiling to support source/target connectivity

  • Bulk ELT operations

  • Monitoring and administration

The usage limits are:

  • 1TB of object storage per tenant

  • Excludes big data functionality such as support for Sqoop, Hive, Pig, Spark, Spark Streaming, Kafka, Oozie, and others
