Recommendations and Tips for Using EPM Integrator

When using EPM Integrators, review the recommendations and tips to ensure that your works as expected.

• Ensure you complete the prerequisites before logging in and defining the extract configurations.
• When you make changes in the EPM Integrator, refresh the metadata before you access the integrator user interface.
• Before you start using the Fusion Data Intelligence EPM Integrator, review the EPM cubes and understand the data you need to extract. This ensures you apply the correct filters in each extract configuration.
• Fusion Data Intelligence EPM Integrator only supports accessing one connection per support EPM module. For example, one PBCS, one FDDS, on TRCS, and one PCMCS instance.
• When you configure your data extract for the first time, start with a small dataset from the EPM application. Apply filters on each dimension and restrict each to a single member. This allows for faster iterations for testing and helps quickly confirm prerequisites and overall setup before you scale up to larger extracts.
• Fusion Data Intelligence EPM Integrator doesn't support any transformations at the EPM Level. The integrator should be used to extract the data from EPM into Fusion Data Intelligence ADW. Once the data is loaded, you can use various options to do further transformations. Use Data Augmentation Scripts (DAS) to transform data loaded to Fusion Data Intelligence.
• Add filters for all the dimensions in the EPM Integrator. The system doesn't restrict you from creating data configurations without filters. However, if you don't add filters, the jobs in EPM may take a long time to complete, or they may get stuck or fail within the EPM System.
• Exercise caution when using the All Data option in the data extract options. The All Data option can cause long-running jobs and you should avoid this scenario whenever possible.
• Avoid creating a single large extract configuration that encompasses all the data from the cube. The system supports multiple Data Extract configurations. You should assess the EPM system and develop numerous data extractions based on your reporting requirements.
• Use the Incremental value setting only when you want to load current period or prior periods only, where the current period is the system’s actual current period. After the first full load as per the filters, it will only clear and reload current and prior periods, not the future periods. Set loads to No Incremental for any data extract that requires future years and periods.
• Fusion Data Intelligence EPM Integrator manages all the jobs. You shouldn't cancel, modify, or tamper with jobs created by the EPM Integrator.
• Create new dedicated source applications for Fusion Data Intelligence EPM Integrator and don't use an existing one.
• The Source and Target data exchange applications are intended for use only by the FDI EPM Integrator; they shouldn't be updated or utilized by other processes.
• If there are any failed EPM jobs, the logs will be available in the EPM system, and you can analyze them to identify and resolve potential failures. Once the necessary changes are done, you can republish in the Fusion Data Intelligence EPM Integrator.
• While managing an existing connection, disable Initialize Connection. Only enable this feature when a there's a change in the EPM source configuration a configuration change (for example, a dimension is added, removed, or renamed).
